Important disclaimer: I am not an expert on 356 tools! I have collected information from multiple sources, including my own observations, and try to present it on this site in a coherent manner. There will always be variations and differences from what is presented here. This site should be considered a work in progress, and not a definitive statement on what is correct for 356 tool kits. Spark plug sockets

With the exception of Carrera tool kits, all 356 tool kits contained a very similar spark plug socket. It was basically a cylindrical socket, with a 20.8mm hex opening in one end with a rubber insert to hold the plug, and pairs of holes at the other end for using a tommy bar to turn the socket.

Description
Early Pre-A: -"Hazet" inscribed longitudinally, midway -script about 20mm long -dull silver finish -tommy bar length 12cm, same finish as socket -overall length approximately 23-24 cm	Lower photo shows the darker finish of the early socket (bottom) compared to 2 later A versions
Late Pre-A to 1957 -"Hazet" inscribed longitudinally, midway -script about 14mm long -may have Hazet decal in line and about 40mm from the inscription, towards the socket end -satin silver finish -length 24cm -tommy bar length 12cm, same finish as socket
1957-58 -"Hazet 763 GERMANY" inscribed around circumference near socket end -top of letters closest to socket -satin silver finish -length 24cm -tommy bar length 12cm, same finish as socket

1959 -"Hazet 763 GERMANY" inscribed around circumference near socket end -bottom of letters closest to socket (may be different distance from end - see photos) -may have Hazet decal on either side of the inscription -satin silver finish -length 24cm -tommy bar length 12cm, same finish as socket
T5 B -same as 1959 A
Early T6 B -same as 1959 A
Late T6 B -marked "KLEIN 21" -painted black -about 215mm long -tommy bar had black oxide finish, 150mm long
C -marked "KLEIN 21" -satin chrome finish on socket -bright chrome on tommy bar
Carrera - early A -2 pieces - 1 socket, one handle -handle marked "BILZ", "No. 0", and "8" at the socket (8mm square perhaps?) -socket marked "Hazet 763" When used - the set pictured was in a tool kit supplied by the factory (with a pushrod car!) picked up by the original owner in 1957. This is probably typical of A Carrera tool kits.

Others: The Hazet 3761 is very similar in size and shape to the original A and T5/T6B sockets, except it is about 4" longer. It can be cut down and re-drilled to look like a 763. These pictures show a cut 3761 between an early 763 and a 1959 763.
